Self-evaluation of Public Education Institutions in light of Quality Standards and School Accreditation "A Case Study of Umm Al-Muminin Aisha School in Amran Governorate, Yemen"

Abstract

 This study aimed to identify the reality of the application of the initial procedures for self-evaluation and quality assurance in public education institutions in Republic of Yemen, as well as to identify the reality of the current institutional performance of the school under study (the mother of the believers Aisha for girls), as well as to identify its strengths and weaknesses. Then suggesting priorities for improvements to bridge the gap in the institutional performance of the school in light of the results of self-assessment. The study followed the descriptive analytical approach. It also relied on a mixed design research, which provides an opportunity to use both quantitative and qualitative methods to collect and analyze data. The researchers used two tools; The first was a list of quality standards and indicators developed by the General Administration for Quality and School Accreditation at Yemeni Ministry of Education for the year 2019. The second tool was data collection models prepared by the two researchers, and (26) of respondents participated in the self-evaluation process (13) from inside the school, and (13) respondents from outside it, and some interviews were conducted to identify the level of institutional performance according to quality standards. The results of the self-assessment showed that the overall institutional performance level of Umm Al-Muminin Aisha School in Amran Governorate, Yemen obtained a performance rate of (50.9%) and an average rating of (medium). from general education schools; It prevents the provision of high quality education that meets the aspirations that society expects from its educational system. At the level of standards and indicators, the results revealed many strengths and weaknesses in the institutional performance of the school, and on the basis this, the researchers presented a set of recommendations to enhance strengths and overcome weaknesses and shortcomings, in addition to a number of suggestions for future studies on similar topics in order to ensure the improvement of the quality of performance in this school and all public education schools in the rest of Yemeni governorates.
